This is a picture of the country school I went to for 6 years. This is Pope County School District # 1709 which was located in Chippewa Falls Township.
In this picture I am in the 4th grade and I am the second person on the right hand side of the picture sitting by the chalk board.
The teacher in this picture is Pearl Christianson who was my teacher for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade. For 1st and 2nd grade my teacher was Elverna Johnson.
The children in this picture starting with the left row:
Toby Fladmark, Janice Gerde, David Douvier, Allen Riel, Julie DeYoung
In the middle row we have:
Duwayne Douvier, James Fladmark, Twyla Wall, Sharon Gerde (who was visiting for the day), Judy Douvier, Susan Knutson, Linda Wall
In the right side row we have:
Jimmy Switzenberg, Jean Wendt Marthaler, Cynthia Christianson, Nancy Fladmark, Dale Wendt Jr., James Wendt and our teacher, Pearl Christianson
I love the picture of George Washington on the wall and the books that are in the library. Going to country school was such a happy time in my life. I enjoyed being there and being with the friends I had there. My favorite books from those years were the Laura Ingalls Wilder series. When the school closed I had the honor of being able to buy all the Laura Ingalls Wilder books and I still have them.
